Just so ya know...

A short disclaimer...
I am not a doctor. I am not a nutritionist. But I am a mother and when it comes to my and my childrens' health I like to know as much as possible about how to keep us all as well as I can for as long as I can. I therefore do a lot of reading and asking and listening. The results of that research finds its way here. If you have any questions about whether you should follow any advice you might read here please ask your physician. To your health!

Welcome!

Welcome to Deb's Health Notes!

Over the years, as I've raised my three children and tried to keep myself and my family healthy, I've learned a great deal about the choices that we make when it comes to living a heathful lifestyle.  The choices are not always easy and not all the information that we need to make those choices are right in front of us.  Sometimes we have to go out and find it.  And verify it!  For me it's somewhat of an obsession.  If someone gets sick I must know as much as I can about the illness, the consequences, the treatments and the alternatives.  When it comes to nutrition I try to ensure that my family has all the knowledge they need to make healthy choices, an ever increasing challenge in the world of processed food and a competitive business environment.

This web site is my attempt to share a little of the knowledge that I have accumullated through my journey with all my friends and anyone else that might be wondering the same things I am.  Every week (or just when I feel like it) I will write a little bit about something I've discovered, either because I'm looking for an answer or someone has asked me about or I just happened to notice it in my readings, and share it with you.  It will include references that I've used and, perhaps, a place where you can find what I've found to be helpful.

Along with this site I have a companion Facebook page which will include a link to this blog as well as daily (or more!) links to some of the stories and tidbits that catch my attention.  You can find the page here. Feel free to leave a comment on either site, especially if you can provide additional insight!

And, since I love to dig into health and nutrition issues, if you have a question feel free to e-mail me and I will try to dig out the information and share it here.  Sometimes the answers can be surprising!

I hope you'll join me when you can, follow the site and like the page on Facebook.  Be smart!  Be healthy!
